Sam is Growing Up! — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

Remember Sam?  I had the pleasure to take some more photos of him last night, and this image is one of my favorites!  It makes me remember to bring up a few interesting points about photo shoots 1) 95% of the time you will find me in yoga pants lying on the ground in some bizarre position that will make people stare (but I know WILL get the shot) and 2) kids dictate how we spend our time–I let THEM set the pace.  Little Sam was in no mood for pictures last night, so I happily let him do whatever he needed to do until he felt comfortable.  We tried the stroller, we tried walking, we tried sitting, we tried standing.  After awhile I suggested the park.

We can see how that worked out!

Janet Moon Photography - Love the natural smile and the vibrant colors!

Pete and Sarah — Minneapolis/St Paul Family Photographer

Had a wonderful afternoon with a super sweet couple today–LOVE this shot of them.  I knew right away that this image was one of “the ones,” and I have a hunch they did too.  (I have a hard time hiding it you see, and basically started waving my hands and cheering as I pressed the shutter button down.  I probably don’t need to tell you that I am NOT a very good poker player!)

JoyfulHeart Photography - this is fantastic, heather!

Janet Moon Photography - What a shot! Love the fall colors in the background . btw, i love your logo too!

Stephanie Hering - This is a fantastic shot!

December Daily — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

This is Holly, last Christmas, writing a letter to Santa.

I felt like a little kid all week waiting for Ali Edward’s December Daily post to be live.  I LOVE this project!!  For those of you who have known me a long time, you know that I have many, many , hobbies–and one of them is scrapbooking.  I will be forever thankful that I discovered this hobby BEFORE my daughter was born, as I have been faithfully been recording moments in my personal blog or in scrapbook pages.

I choose to do an all digital album last year for my December Daily project, which made the process quick and easy.  (There are many out there that do paper product type scrapbooking, which I totally admire and am secretly jealous of.  I LOVED to buy all of the supplies–I just had a hard time ever making anything with them as I never seemed to have the space or time!)  So…all digital it is.  I printed it all up in an 8 x 8 Shutterfly book, and we STILL look at the book together almost weekly reliving the holiday season.  You can see what it looks like, by clicking here.

If you are interested in doing this along with me this year, check out Ali’s post today here.  I would also recommend joining the flickr group, it gives constant inspiration…and if you are a feedback junkie like me….it also can be a great way to feel good about what you create.  (Who doesn’t love to be told how creative they are?!?)

A Weekend in Chicago — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

It’s hard to believe that I have already been home nearly a month from Audrey’s workshop.  Where did the time go?!  For those of you who have ever thought about going to her workshop–do not hesitate!  I learned more about natural light in the first few hours than I had ever learned from books or my own experience.  The weekend truly transformed how I approach my surroundings, and I am excited to keep practicing and growing as a photographer.  Audrey is a wonderful teacher, and so open with information….not to mention the MOST talented children’s photographer I have ever seen.  Be sure to check out her blog, you too will be blown away!

We had some wonderful children to help us out that day, as well as a stunning pregnant mommy (also a fellow photographer.)  I was able to work a lot with the cute little two-year old…we had a lot of fun.  (I think it was easy to connect with her because I have two-year old myself!)  Would love to hear what you think of the images!

Angie Dewitt - I love the pictures! This is Angie (the pregnant photographer). They all look so crisp and beautiful. You did great capturing the personalities of our little models. Great Job!

JoyfulHeart Photography - Heather, Love them all! It’s so fun to see all the diff perspectives fr each photographer that day. Great job.

Vicky - These pictures are amazing!!! Makes me so jealous, I want to go to a workshop too :-(

remi - These images are STELLAR!! Great composition and lighting and wonderful demeanor and countenances captured with every shot. Hooray!!!

Wish my two-year-old could have his pictures done by you. :)
