Monthly Archives: May 2012

Hello Wednesday.

All day long I thought it was Monday. In fact I almost wrote Hello Monday as a title to this post. Wow–this week is already zooming by fast!

We are busy getting ready for Holly’s surgery on Friday. Tomorrow we have a pre-op/labwork appointment in the late morning, and then a surgery tour at the hospital around dinner time. She is having her tonsils removed at a hospital that specializes in children, so there is a bit of comfort in that. (Everything they do, right down to what they call pieces of equipment, is done with kids in mind. The whole surgery tour tomorrow evening is a walk through of what is going to happen so that the kids are less scared.) The only hitch in this whole plan is the fact that Mr Pig, Holly’s favorite stuffed animal, is NOWHERE to be found. I have looked everywhere in the house, in the cars….to no avail. Please say a prayer that I will find him tomorrow–he has been from New York to California with us (and everywhere in between) I can’t imagine him not being there to comfort her through this.

This past weekend I actually completed a quilt, even have it on Holly’s bed already, I just haven’t taken a picture to show here. (It’s proof that I do indeed have other hobbies!) It’s really cute and coordinates with both the valances, bedskirts, and changing table skirts I have in their room. If I could get a few things hung on the walls (that’s right the puzzles are still not up) it just might look put together around here!

I also completed a scrapbook page. This is one of the princess party I mentioned week twenty in my project life layouts–I really like the idea of having one, maybe two photos of an event that happened in the PL album, but then going into more detail with more pictures the traditional way. I do plan, however, to put it all together in the photobook for PL. I don’t have the need, nor the space, for separate albums!

It’s a shame I had to blur a few of the photos as they came out so, so cute.

The baby is crying AGAIN so I better wrap this up. I don’t know WHAT is up with her, I just know that she is having a really tough time lately. The bottom teeth are in, could this be the top teeth making their presence known?

I feel so bad for her!

Digital Project Life : Week Twenty-One

It’s week 21. I still really love this project but I am struggling a bit getting enough pictures (and having enough energy) to keep up. I am not behind…yet. With surgery at the end of the week for Holly, and every party, shower, and event coming up for the next few weeks…..well….let’s just say I am getting worried!

Left Side:

The girls and I have been spending a lot of time outside, so I made sure to get pictures of the baby in her new stroller, the baby trying out the swing at the park, and Holly’s skinned knees! Just one look at her legs, and you can tell that summertime outside play is in full force!

Marie officially cut two teeth as well, I just couldn’t get around to getting a good picture. I will definitely try to do that this week. I did manage to get her journey into solid foods recorded though–doesn’t she have the sweetest smile?

Right Side:

Every single photo this week is with my iphone, save the three on this page in the 4×6 spots. I just really am truly exhausted, and lugging out my big camera is just more than I am in the mood for right about now. I really wish babies were born with their teeth. This teething phase is kickin’ my rear, I need some sleep!

Getting the playhouse built and in the backyard was the big event this week, and also capturing Holly before and during her playdates. Those girls just love, love, love their princesses!

Here is the journaling for this week’s Week in Review card:

Sunday we headed back home from our weekend in Wisconsin and proceeded to do absolutely nothing but putz around the house for the rest of the day. ~ Monday Mom spent a lot of time going through her photos from the weekend. Got a ton of great shots! ~ Tuesday the girls and Mom went for a walk and had a picnic at the park. When Daddy got home from work he moved the playhouse into the backyard. Woo Hoo! ~ Wednesday was another lounge day. Holly was at school and Mom and the baby stayed inside most of the day watching movies. (And wondered why they were so lazy this week!?) ~ Thursday Marie continued to do battle with her teeth and had another day of hardly any sleep. Mom wishes those teeth would come in already. ~ Friday Daddy was home from work so he spent a little time with the baby as Mom ran errands. Tried to arrange a backyard playdate but the neighbors, then Holly, fell asleep pretty early in the evening. Mom followed suit at about 715. ~ Saturday we attended Nanny’s sister Tiffany’s baby shower and then headed to the farm for a weekend of fun and relaxation. (And maybe some sewing!)

And that’s a wrap. I am off to get a nap!

Christy - I love the idea of a week in review journaling card! Just a great way to keep track of all the important memories from the week! The digital scrap pages always looks so clean and pretty!

Life in Pictures

I think I have underestimated the amount of time it takes to manage two kids. I hardly seem to ever sit down and blog anymore! Once I get one child down for a nap I get so busy with house chores (and if I am not doing that I am trying to squeeze in a few moments for my Project Life layouts) that I forget to sit down and catch up here. So to make it quick, here is a look at our life in pictures via instagram……

Marie is really enjoying her solids. This is her trying bananas for the first time. She has also tried peas with brown rice, regular rice cereal, sweet potatoes, green beans, and pears. She seems to enjoy veggies more than fruits. Go figure!

The weather has been pretty nice lately, so we have taken a lot of walks

and picnicked at the park!

Last night I had a long overdue night out with some girl friends

and today Holly gave her dad an early Father’s Day present–a picture of him. (Can you see the cute smiley face drawn on the plate?!)

That about sums up our lives right now. We will be heading out to the farm over the weekend, but before we go we have a baby shower to attend. Busy, busy!

Next week is Holly’s last week of pre-school for the year, I can’t believe another year has passed. I can’t remember if I mentioned it here or not, but she did not get into the public school pre-k program (it’s popular so attendance is via lottery) so she will be attending preschool at Country Day one more year. She will love it I know, she really wasn’t looking forward to sitting down inside everyday! When I told her they didn’t have animals at our neighborhood school she could not understand why!

Holly is having her tonsils out next week–I can’t remember if I mentioned that here yet either. (I know it was on my PL layout last week, but those darn images are so small it’s hard to read them!) That will be on Friday, and I am getting nervous already. And I am not even the one getting them removed!!!

Digital Project Life : Week Twenty

Welcome to Week Twenty! One thing is for sure, this project really makes me realize just how fast a year goes by. How is it that June is already next week?!

This past week was a busy one. Between coming back from vacation, a wedding, and a birthday party I could hardly tell if I was coming or going. I took hundreds of pictures this week and did dozens of loads of laundry…seriously I am amazed I am even getting these layouts done in time. I do want to have a bunch of inserts of the wedding and the party, so I don’t know if I can say I am technically done, but at the very least I have something to show today which is always my goal.

Left Side:

Really love this page–it’s pretty much all Clementine. (Included in the mix are Jessica’s free journaling cards, a MUST if you are using the Clementine kit for your project life!) The colors and graphics are all very “me,” and the pictures this week are just too cute! Marie started in on solids consistently this week, I just love the photo of her “sweet potato face!”

When I downloaded Jessica’s journaling cards, I also took a look at the rest of the blog and decided I really liked what she was doing with her pages. (The double matting.) The way the templates went right to the edge had always bothered me too, although I didn’t really know it until I started playing around. I am now going back and making all of my pages like this–just what I need, another project!

The beginning of the week we were still in California, so I placed a few images in there representing that. The story  along with the yellow car picture details out Holly’s confusion and exasperation at the effort it takes to steer a car–if you ever get the chance to go to Disneyland the Autotopia ride is a must for little ones. I laughed the whole time over Holly yelling, “I don’t even know what the steering wheel is doing!”

Right Side:

This page is very photo heavy–I did a backyard photoshoot with the girls on Thursday that yielded the big sister image. Don’t you love how Marie’s arm is wrapped around her sister’s arm? The drawing on the bottom left is a card that was left for us in our mail slot by our neighbors. (Their four year old daughter drew all of us, it was so easy to scan it in and make it part of the week–how could I not include it? It’s absolutely adorable!)

I finally recorded an everyday moment I had been wanting to get down for a long time, Justin’s “Where are my girls?” question he calls out as he comes home from work every night. It’s easily Holly’s favorite part of the day! The other Justin picture is one of him and Holly putting together the playhouse. She loves to help her dad in the garage!

The bottom right is Holly all dressed up to attend the princess birthday party across the street on Saturday. She looks like such a little angel here–really love the bokeh, blown up this picture really looks like a painting!

Here is the journaling from the Week in Review Card this Week:

Sunday was spent at California Adventure Park. It was the best day of the trip. Most of our time was spent on the California Screamin’ roller coaster. Easily the best ride ever….we rode it at least five times each! ~ Monday we came home. The girls did great on the plane! ~ Tuesday Mom did more laundry than she ever has in her life and Holly slept in until 10am. Really a crazy day. ~ Wednesday Holly was back to school for the first time in a week and a half. She was as happy to be back with her friends as Mom was to have the house back to herself! ~ Thursday Mom and the girls hung around the house during the day, and Holly and Daddy put the playhouse together at night. Just a bit more to go, and it’s ready for the yard. ~ Friday Mom and the baby went dress shopping for Billy’s wedding on Saturday and hung out in the basement as much as they could. It was nearly 90 degrees outside! ~ Saturday was quite a fun-filled day, starting with Flannery’s birthday party in the morning and Billy’s wedding in the afternoon. Took lots of pictures at both and had a great, great time!

Another week down, and another one started already. Hopefully this week I will be able to get together some inserts of Disneyland, the birthday party, and the wedding we attended this weekend. Memory-keeping is a lot of work:) !!!

Jules - Simply beautiful pages, Heather. That sisters shot is breathtaking.

Sarah - Your pages are so lovely Heather. The double matting looks great. Love the sweet potato face!

Aunt Shelley - The everyday moments are the greatest! For all the hard work you will have many many hours of wonderful memories to relive when the girls are grown and gone. Time goes by way too fast! Here Holly is almost ready for school and I still haven’t gotten to see her! I have talked to her on the phone and enjoyed it. You need to post on a bulletin board the sister pic so when they get to the bickering stage you can show them that they really do like each other! LOL

Conni - great pages, I love your double matting. I will have to check out Jessica’s blog too

Christy - Love the digital layouts! One day I will try it as well….What great pictures you captured and I love the drawing from your neighbor what a great way to include it!

shannon b - What beautiful photos and a beautiful family! I love your daughter’s little drawing. And my favorite photo is the one of your daughter welcoming daddy home through the window. WHAT a great capture!

Week in Review

I don’t know if this is technically going to be a review of the week, more like an apology for being so absent lately! Ever since we came back from California the babe has had really bad teething episodes and has consequently not been sleeping hardly at all during the day. The less she sleeps, the less free time I have! (My absence may also have something to do with the 13 loads of laundry I did all week long too….)

Gearing up for a busy weekend. We have a birthday party in the morning to attend, and then the whole family is heading north for a wedding. Which reminds me…I have to get my camera charged up!

Really nothing else to report this week. Lots of housework, and a bit of scrapbooking. I really do have other hobbies (like quilting) but unfortunately they are taking a back seat to everything else as of late. I have some fabric for a quilt for the girl’s room that I am dying to show off…maybe next week.

I finished up an “ode to the instagram” page tonight which highlights some of my favorite iphone photos from the trip to Disney. I used a template from Nettio Designs–love, love, love her stuff. This came together in less than 30 minutes.

I absolutely love how this came out–you can tell just by looking at all of these little shots in a big circle that we had fun, fun, fun! I hope to get a few more pages done about Disney before I forget exactly what we did when! (Don’t get me started on my Week in The Life stuff–I am stalled out on day two, I REALLY need to get that stuff down or it will be long gone out of this brain by June!!)

Have a great weekend!
