Digital Project Life : Week Thirty

Week #30. Can’t even believe that it has been going this long, that the year is more than half over, and that I still love this project.

It’s amazing what I am making time for these days. Nothing gets between me and my scrapping time, not even several seasons of Mad Men. I may not cook dinner (last night I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry’s for my last meal of the day) and I may not exercise (I can’t take this humidity so walking time has gone bye bye) but by God I have recorded me some memories:)

Left Side:

This is the first time in months that I did not have a Week in Review card. I actually didn’t even realize it was missing until about ten minutes ago, but there was enough journaling here and there within the week that I decided all was fine. I wasn’t about to spend any more time on this week’s layouts as I already had many an hour into it. I felt like getting scrappy with it and spent a ridiculous amount of time on three of the 4×6 slots. (I now completely understand why I don’t do that every week!) I do love the look, and it was fun to play around, but I think I will leave that kind of detail to Michelle Wooderson. I love checking out her stuff every week–if you haven’t discovered her blog check it out.

There wasn’t a whole lot of everyday this week, save the backyard pool fun and a shot or two of baby Marie. (Who is soooo close to crawling. CRAP. I feel like I have no time now, I don’t know WHAT I am going to do when she is mobile too!)

We had our last t-ball game, and a trip to the zoo. And I FINALLY did something I had been wanting to do for months–got Holly involved with the title card. I have lots of ideas for this–it will be fun to get really creative with her and the numbers. What is there this week she came up with entirely on her own….her own illustrated version of the week! (This is a new, absolutely adorable thing she does now. Lots of drawing to describe events. You’ll see what I mean in the next page.)

Right Side:

The top left is Holly’s drawing of her schedule at Summer Camp. She was working on it when I picked her up last week, and when she described to me what everything was I snatched it up and scanned it in before it got lost. LOVE this kind of stuff! If I ever get a core kit, or a binder, I just might keep the actual piece of paper–but for now scanning is fine. (**Side note–I do realize there is a misspelling. Unfortunately I didn’t save the file I was working on, and just dragged it onto the template, so I think it’s going to stay as is. Nice reminder to myself that I am not perfect:))

I used two templates from Nettio Designs in a couple of the squares that I received from my dailydigi subscription. I love Nettio’s stuff, so this was a really nice surprise in our files this month. (The kit I used, Blooming, is also from the dailydigi. LOVE that site!) Worked out perfectly since I had so many dinosaur and t-ball photos I wanted to incorporate.

The last square is just a four-way grid I made up in photoshop. I had a few instagrams I wanted to include and this seemed the perfect way to fit them in. Created the instagram element myself too! I am always saying insta-love, not sure if it’s a word I read online or made up myself, but I do love that app!

And that’s a wrap. I really hope that I am able to blog more than once a week this coming month…but summer? WHEW. Time in the summer is just so hard to come by!!!!

I am linking up at The Mom Creative again this week. Check it out for tons of Project Life inspiration!

libbywilko - Love the photo of Marie pushing herself up.

I love your idea for the title card with Holly holding up the week 30 sign :) The scrappy squares were great too.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Stephanie - I LOVE the pink scrapbook paper/designs this week!!! Super cute colors!!

Digital Project Life : Week Twenty-Nine

Week 29 and still going strong!

Loved that this week was a bit more slower paced, at least it felt that way. I kept it super simple. I mainly used the Clementine kit, and really have no embellishments at all. I think I just needed a break from thinking about it so much!

Left Side:

This page talks about painting our kitchen–finally. I don’t know if any of you always noticed the bizarre splotches on the wall in the background of our pictures taken in the kitchen, but they were there. FOR A YEAR!!! The room looks wonderful now, and is the prettiest shade of green I have ever seen. It’s hard to hit the balance between not too olive and not too pastel but we did! The color is CALABASH by Martha Stewart. I would highly recommend! We also have a few fun instagrams, and my new favorite picture of Holly. She is such a beauty! The black and white of Marie was taken while she was watching a Baby Einstein video. She loves Baby Signs, and I love how she is looking at me here. (Almost as if to say, “What’s with the commotion back there? I am trying to watch my program!”)

Right Side:

I was glad I was able to get a picture of Holly’s Haunted House, it’s a fun game she plays when it storms outside. I had to bend over, almost upside down, to get a photo of Marie’s new teeth! Where is the time going with her!?!?! She is about ready to crawl, I will definitely have to get photos of that this week. Holly had her first sleepover to attend on Friday night and had a wonderful time. I passed the time that evening watching Mad Men. I actually spent many evenings watching it this past week to tell you the truth. I am a bit obsessed!

That’s all she wrote for Week 29. Onto week 30! I already have a TON of super cute pics lined up!

I am linking up at The Mom Creative again this week. Check it out for tons of Project Life inspiration!

Digital Project Life : Week Twenty-Eight

Here we are. Week 28!

I have had these layouts done for a few days now, it really came together quite easily. The kit is Sweet Day by Echo Park, and I just love it! I am sure I will be using it again as there were a ton of things leftover that I couldn’t find a spot for.

I finally took the plunge and bought a set of 12×12 page protectors, as well as some Design G. I printed out my title page and the first two weeks through Persnickety Prints, and WOW. It was AMAZING to see the layouts in person, and the quality of Persnickety? Exactly like you always hear–excellent. (And I am a photographer. I swear it easily rivals the print house I typically use to do my client’s orders.)

I am still undecided as to what to do. (Photobook, binder, or both?!?) I had a lot of time this past weekend with Holly gone to her grandparents house, so I tackled a lot in Shutterfly too. I put together a layout for A Day in The Life (remember that from February?!) as well as the mosaic for February. I worked on a couple of “inserts,” and uploaded until week 17.

But enough about that. Let’s take a look at week 28:

This week a lot of fun things were going on. It was picture day at the T-Ball game (I didn’t buy any of theirs, but did get a lot of sweet ones myself!) Holly and Justin are really enjoying the tag-along bike, Marie is really enjoying walks. It’s been SO HARD to be outside this month with the heat–but we are trying our best to find a few things to do that we can tolerate. Wednesday it was creating a carwash out front!

I am glad I had my iphone with me while I was feeding Marie her first wafer cookie. She made me laugh so much…she just can’t seem to get her hands to work together towards bringing something to her mouth consistently. She does the same thing with her sippy-cup as you see here with the wafer!

Went with a modified Design A for this page–I just had to make the photo of Holly after her game large. It tells the story of this age so well. Stains on her t-shirt (ketchup from dinner before the game), tons of band-aids on her knees, pink glove, the look on her face. All so her. It’s just a perfect picture of life at four and a half. Always have to say the half. Or she freaks out!

Onto week 29. I haven’t taken one picture yet so I better get crackin’!

sharon71 - Great week for you too Heather. Your pages look very bright and cheerful – I love that photo of Holly in her T-ball uniform – so cute.

Good to hear the feedback about Persnickety too – I have a credit with them but am waiting for the PL Baby items to come out and then I will do them digitally.

Thanks for sharing.

libbywilko - Such great layouts ! It’s really got me thinking of printing mine too so the kids can actually see the weeks photos off the computer :) love the t-ball shots and the colours of this week. Love your photography.

Lois H. - These are awesome pages… makes me wish I was doing digital… well, maybe just a little. :-) They are great, though. LOVE the colors. So happy looking!

Kelli W - love it! I got this paper kit and haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but I can’t wait, you’ve inspired me :)

Andrea - Beautiful pages! Your color choices are always spot on. Love that last shot of your daughter in baseball gear with band-aids on her knees–screams summer!

Anna M - I found you through the mom creative. I am doing the Digital PL and am on week 29. I have printed my pages at Persnickety through till April, and I love them, It is awesome to see them done and look at them. I do keep going back and forth as to a Photo book, through Adorama Pix, I have 4 of those books and am in AWE of their quality pretty pricey but they have sales often, and it is so worth it. But I like the options that I have with loose since I have used the 6×12 pages too and the envelope pages are awesome too. I am going to start following you to get some inspiration for my pages. Thanks!

Tanner and Tucker — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

I recently spent the morning in Stillwater photographing these two adorable boys at their home and at Teddy Bear Park in town. (For all of you in the Twin Cities, this is a park not to miss! I had never been there, and had actually never heard of it before, but one look at the photos I took and my four-year old said we will be going there before the summer is over.)

So I guess I will be back!

There were so many from this session that were keepers, I honestly had a hard time narrowing it down. Thanks boys for a great session, looking forward to capturing the whole family this fall! Here are a few of my favorites:

Stephanie H - Awww, cute kids & great photos! I have never heard of that park either. Do you have any more pictures of the park? Looks really neat, especially that cave-looking picture?!

Digital Project Life : Week Twenty-Seven

Week Twenty-Seven. Over the hump of the halfway point. Still loving this project.

This week included the Fourth of July, and since we had a BBQ you would think that I would have more than enough photos to choose from. Not so. Nope, it was too hot here in Minnesota last week–over 100 two days, and 99 on the third. (I think the other two days were 95+?) Too hot to do ANYTHING. My daughter said it best during one of our walks when she exclaimed “I am so hot, I’m as hot as a pan!”  At first I didn’t know what she meant…but then she rolled her eyes at me and said, “I feel like a frying pan mom!”

This week I used a new kit from Lori Whitlock that was patriotic themed. I don’t know what it was about this kit, but it is my sweet spot. Enough cuteness, enough bold color, everything about it made my layouts come together in under an hour. All except the title card. I had an idea for something else, so I am pretty sure it will get swapped out. I wanted to make my Tuesday deadline here–so in went a filler. Hopefully I will get in there what I want sooner rather than later!

Left Side:

Now that the journaling is big enough to read, I don’t feel like I need to ramble on so much. The theme of this week was a LOT of time in the water!

Right Side:

A lot of Baby Marie on this page, and a lot of writing. I am trying to get better about the journaling portion of the book, and for the most part I am feeling pretty good about it. I am SO glad I started using the Week in Review card. When I look back at older weeks now (that don’t have it) I sort of blankly look at the pages and think to myself…now what did we do that week again?

That wraps up week 27. I had my camera out today and already have a TON of photos for week 28. It just ebbs and flows around here.

Stephanie - Yay, I am sooooo thrilled I can read the journaling!!!!!!!
