Digital Project Life : Week Forty-Seven

Only five more weeks until the end of the year. WHA????????

I don’t know what’s harder to believe–the fact the the year is almost over, or that I almost have a whole year of Project Life completed! Still loving this project.

Week 47 was filled with some Christmas preparations (namely hanging outdoor lights) as well as the Thanksgiving holiday. Not too many photos this week either, I think I am taking it easy as I gear up for December Daily. Which starts Saturday. Goodness. I hope I am ready for all of this! I tried to put together some pages in preparation for it, but for some reason that’s just not how I roll with December Daily. This will be my fourth year doing it, and every year I create a page in the evening from scratch. I bought a bunch of templates, and even decided on my papers/color scheme, but the rest? It just comes together as I go! Thankfully that seems to work for me.

I have a feeling that this past week sort of geared me up for what working with the Seafoam Kit is going to be like. This was actually an Echo Park Halloween Paper Kit, but I really like all of the colors so I used it anyway! Didn’t have many embellishments, just the usual text boxes and brushes.

Left Side:

This side was my favorite side. (Sometimes I feel like my “b-side” is really dull. All of my creativity comes out on the left, and by the time I get to the right I am just too tired to get too crazy!!!) I managed to get only one photo on Thanksgiving. This happens to me at virtually every party I go to, I always get wrapped up in what is going on, and forget to take photos! But the one I did get tells the story of the day anyway. Whenever dinner is at Justin’s aunt and uncle’s house we ride four-wheelers and have a lot of fun outside. This year was no exception! This side also includes a couple of shots from my photo shoot with the girls over the weekend. I found a super cool red building, and it was 60 degrees for the last time this year, so I went for it. (Cranky baby and all!) Holly had a TON of fun modeling in her boots!

Right Side:

More photos from our park shoot on this page, plus a favorite from my iphone of Justin putting our Christmas lights up. I also got a shot of Holly going to the door to collect her kiwicrate on the stoop–she loves getting her own mail more than anything! The Week in Review Card made a comeback. (Doesn’t it always when I am light on photos?!?!)

Onto week 48–the week Marie turned ONE. Cute first birthday shots to be shown soon.

AND some shares from photo sessions this fall. I am still trying to finish up all Fall orders…when that’s done, I promise, there will be lots to see. Have a great week. See you Sunday for December Daily Post #1!!!!

libbywilko - I do love your A page but your b side is great too! Love the colours!

Anne Marie - I love your blog! I currently do the non-digital project life and want to move to digital for 2013. May I ask what size pages you are doing and where you plan to print the pages?

admin - Thanks Anne Marie! So excited to hear you are getting ready to jump on the digital bandwagon–you will be AMAZED at how easy it is! I make 12×12 pages, and this year my intent was to upload them to Shutterfly to put into a photobook. (They have an option where you can use your own scrapbook pages–I detail out the how-to on this post on the blog.) I probably will still do it this way for 2012–but I really think I am going to print them out and put them in a binder for 2013. I just love the look of extra inserts too much! I did a few pages as a “test” at persnicketyprints.com and was BLOWN AWAY by the quality. I would recommend them very, very highly.

Anne Marie - Thank-you so much for all of your advice! I like the idea of a binder as well – I like to add in pages as well…sometimes a little keepsake or a special piece of artwork. This is super helpful as I get started! Thanks so much!

Digital Project Life : Week Forty-Six

Welcome to Week 46. A week I started, lost somewhere on my harddrive, so needed to create again. (Hence it’s very simple and Clementine-centric nature.) Not to worry–the next few weeks are going to be fun, fun, fun. I have a few new products (really more than a few, more like like a lot) from both  Designer Digitals and the  Sweet Shoppe and I can’t wait to make holiday themed Project Life pages AND December Daily layouts. Still not sure how hard it will be completing two projects like that at once but if I can complete December Daily with a hospital stay and a newborn, which is how it was last year, I can do ANYTHING:)

Left Side:

This week was really light on photos so I used a lot of filler cards/journaling cards. I made sure to journal about how the baby loves wind blowing in her face, she practically screams in delight, and how Holly and I have been spending a lot of time crafting. This week we worked on our homemade reindeer, but truth be told I am much more excited to dig into our Kiwi Crate Christmas box next week!

Right Side:

Most of our week was spent upstairs working on Holly’s room. We have a first birthday party for Marie in two days, so we really needed to deep clean up there as we need the space to spread out. (Two dozen people in about an 850 square-foot first floor might be a wee bit tight!) Worked out well as Holly has been BEGGING for a decorated room. She is sooo happy up there now, and even I have to say it’s much cuter and easier to spend time up there. The room is a T-shape, so we made the east side a princess bedroom and the west side a fun playroom. We found great storage furniture at IKEA and Target had tons of cute little girl room decor. I even managed to create a creative arts area on the North end, complete with a sewing table! I wonder if this will help me sew more?

I am already working on Week 47–lots of photos and fun coming up!

libbywilko - Love your project life pages Heather, Holly’s room looks so cute now. I hope you put your name down for Becky’s PL creative team !

Digital Project Life : Week Forty-Five

Here we are, week 45. Less than ten weeks until the end of the year. I can say without hesitation that I love this project just as much this week as the first, and I am really excited about next year already. (But perhaps even more excited about December Daily which starts in just two weeks.) Seems the only thing I have time for, besides photo-editing. Which reminds me…I really do need to get back to it, so this will be quick.

And I will, I PROMISE, get to posting some of the photo sessions from this fall soon. So much fun stuff to share!

Week 45 was a fun week for sure. It was the week I was able to jaunt out to California for a photography workshop and meet the one and only Jasmine Star. (More importantly I was also able to sleep uninterrupted for two whole nights for the first time in, oh I don’t know, two years?!)

I kept things super simple this week which is what I tend to do when I am a bit behind. Pretty much the clementine kit and a few embellishments here and there. Mostly photos.

Right Side:

As I was leaving the church after voting on Tuesday, I heard an elderly woman talking to someone about how she voted that day–and why. She was talking about wanting her grandchildren to know (who are very young right now) why she voted the way she did, and what impact she thought it may have on them.  I had the idea to do a nice big narrative about why “mommy and daddy” voted the way we did after I listened to her story. It’s shaded for privacy, but I really love how it turned out. I think that it made a great addition to the album.

And that’s all I wrote for Week 45!

Stephanie - Very cool post!! Love it.

libbywilko - So cool you did a course with Jasmine Star ! Loved the photo from Becky’s fb page too, how exciting. Thanks for sharing your week . Great idea to include and blur your voting journalling , it will be great for the kids to have a record of what their family believed about current events.

Nate and Linsey : Saint Paul College Club Wedding

She was leaving a party and was supposed to turn right, but instead she turned left. His truck was parked in that direction and she had a question she wanted to ask him. Was he single? (Yes.) Would he like to go out some—Yes! He answered before she could even finish her sentence. And so it began for Nate and Linsey….

The next night was their first date, with her family. HER FAMILY. And it couldn’t have gone better. They knew, that first night, that they had something really good. They stayed up all night talking. Sharing the stories of past relationships, of who they are, who they hoped to be. Turned out they both were caretakers, “fixers,” the first person who calls when a friend is in need. Both of them never thought they would find someone that would treat them like they treated others, in fact both of them were pretty sure they would end up on their own. But that was not to be. Turns out life is a lot easier with a partner. In Linsey’s first email to me she ended it with a simple phrase, “We are so lucky we found each other.”

Nate and Linsey—you two make me smile. Big. I was incredibly honored to document your wedding in St Paul, and be part of an event that was so full of laughter and fun it was easy to forget I wasn’t part of the family. Thank you for giving me the opportunity, and thank you bringing your hearts to the whole process. It was beautiful, you all were beautiful. Much Love — Heather

To see more of Nate and Linsey’s Saint Paul College Club wedding feel free to check out their slideshow, or watch it here.

Stephanie - Stunning. You would think Linsey had two photographers there, if not three, to capture everything you captured! Looks like a perfect day and you recorded it perfectly!

Digital Project Life : Week Forty-Four

Trending a week behind…but should have week 45 up tomorrow. I hope. (I probably should mention I haven’t even started it yet!!!) It will be very California-centric as that was the bulk of my week, and my photos.

Week 44 was the week of Halloween so we had lots of fun things going on. I made an insert, or in my case an extra 12×12 shutterfly page, to showcase all of the Halloween stuff–amazing I have never thought of doing that before. When I sit down in January to assemble all of this I just might make some more “insert” pages like this to elaborate on certain events. I loved how it turned out. I am going to let the pages do the talking as it’s already 11pm and I have a sick baby who doesn’t like to sleep anymore!

There is a lot of journaling this week, including a very funny hunting story. I swear, I don’t know where she gets it!

See you soon for week 45!

Jen Jones - I use to try and cram everything in to the 2 page layout but busy weeks made the pages way too disorganized and messy so I love doing inserts. You only added one page for your insert so now won’t your pages be off? What do you do about that?

admin - Such a good question Jen! (Can you believe I didn’t even think of that?!?!) After I read your comment I thought about it–and I just might blow up my favorite photo and make a 12×12 page with some journaling or something like that. Not sure. Unfortunately it will be one of those things that gets done when I am putting the book completely together in January I am sure! I am great at staying caught up with my weekly spreads…but my inserts? Not so much! BTW–thank you for putting my name out there for Becky’s CT call. That was so sweet!

libbywilko - Love the pages Heather ! The photographs of the girls in costume are so cute . I really hope you get in the digital ct of Becky’s team your pages are gorgeous!! I like your idea of a big 12 x 12 photo on the other side :-)
