Welcome to my new website!

After a few days, and a bumpy road of updating and coding, I am here and ready to begin posting again!

Most links are fully functioning, however there may be a few things not yet working. (Namely the gallery icons on the left.) My plan is to get this accomplished first thing this morning.

For those of you who followed me at my former site, Heather’s Homemade Home, welcome!

I intend to use this site much the same way. I will continue posting weekly about Project Life, other creative passions, and feature the photography of my clients and my own life. Oh yes, there will be lots and lots of photography!

I hope to delve more into tips on how to launch a business if you are thinking of doing so and of course offering up tips and tricks on how to “nail the shot.” From portrait shooting, to the everyday, my goal is to showcase it all here.:)

Another Houseguest :)

Last Thursday night I stumbled on a blog that talked at length about how bad recovery could be for a tonsillectomy, and it had me so scared that I immediately called my mom to come help me this week. Although Holly’s recovery has gone much better than I expected, we are not out of the woods yet, and quite honestly it’s always nice to have company. (I can actually do things like get my eyebrows waxed…alone!)

We went to the airport this afternoon to pick her up, it was such a beautiful day that I couldn’t resist “instagramming” it up. Enjoy our afternoon in photos. I LOVE the clouds in this picture!

On the way home we stopped at Trader Joe’s. Mom wanted to get some of their Basmati Rice blend, and Marie? Well she was just to excited to sit up all by herself again! (We had already been there once today.) She looks like such a big girl here–their straps work like a charm holding her upright! For anyone that knows my husband, is she the spitting image of her daddy or what?

When we got back home it was full-on grandma mode….and my mom was all too happy to oblige. It is always so heartwarming to see her with my girls. She took some time to read with Holly (btw the quilt I mentioned making last weekend is there in the corner of this picture)…

and helped me feed the baby dinner on the deck. How is it that grandmothers can get my kids to eat 3x what I can?

If I had to sum up the next few days, I would have to say this picture about says it all…..

Pictures, pictures, and more pictures. So much so it usually drives my mother nuts!

Have a great week!

A. Shelley - Now you know how you got fed! We have ‘perience! Not to mention the time an patience that Mom’s don’t have. Part of being a grandparent! LOL

Know the kids will soak up all the spoiling that they will get and that Laurie will be in her element. Enjoy the visit, and Holly get better soon!

I have said from day one that Marie looks like Justin and that Holly looks like you. A split of the gene pool right down the middle! We did the same with our kids, Yvonne looks like me and Tiffy like Del, except they both have his coloring. Still all in all you have beautiful little girls and I just know Marie is going to be as full of life as Holly as she gets older, until she gets fed up with being “bossed” by big sissy! LOL

Hello Wednesday.

All day long I thought it was Monday. In fact I almost wrote Hello Monday as a title to this post. Wow–this week is already zooming by fast!

We are busy getting ready for Holly’s surgery on Friday. Tomorrow we have a pre-op/labwork appointment in the late morning, and then a surgery tour at the hospital around dinner time. She is having her tonsils removed at a hospital that specializes in children, so there is a bit of comfort in that. (Everything they do, right down to what they call pieces of equipment, is done with kids in mind. The whole surgery tour tomorrow evening is a walk through of what is going to happen so that the kids are less scared.) The only hitch in this whole plan is the fact that Mr Pig, Holly’s favorite stuffed animal, is NOWHERE to be found. I have looked everywhere in the house, in the cars….to no avail. Please say a prayer that I will find him tomorrow–he has been from New York to California with us (and everywhere in between) I can’t imagine him not being there to comfort her through this.

This past weekend I actually completed a quilt, even have it on Holly’s bed already, I just haven’t taken a picture to show here. (It’s proof that I do indeed have other hobbies!) It’s really cute and coordinates with both the valances, bedskirts, and changing table skirts I have in their room. If I could get a few things hung on the walls (that’s right the puzzles are still not up) it just might look put together around here!

I also completed a scrapbook page. This is one of the princess party I mentioned week twenty in my project life layouts–I really like the idea of having one, maybe two photos of an event that happened in the PL album, but then going into more detail with more pictures the traditional way. I do plan, however, to put it all together in the photobook for PL. I don’t have the need, nor the space, for separate albums!

It’s a shame I had to blur a few of the photos as they came out so, so cute.

The baby is crying AGAIN so I better wrap this up. I don’t know WHAT is up with her, I just know that she is having a really tough time lately. The bottom teeth are in, could this be the top teeth making their presence known?

I feel so bad for her!

Life in Pictures

I think I have underestimated the amount of time it takes to manage two kids. I hardly seem to ever sit down and blog anymore! Once I get one child down for a nap I get so busy with house chores (and if I am not doing that I am trying to squeeze in a few moments for my Project Life layouts) that I forget to sit down and catch up here. So to make it quick, here is a look at our life in pictures via instagram……

Marie is really enjoying her solids. This is her trying bananas for the first time. She has also tried peas with brown rice, regular rice cereal, sweet potatoes, green beans, and pears. She seems to enjoy veggies more than fruits. Go figure!

The weather has been pretty nice lately, so we have taken a lot of walks

and picnicked at the park!

Last night I had a long overdue night out with some girl friends

and today Holly gave her dad an early Father’s Day present–a picture of him. (Can you see the cute smiley face drawn on the plate?!)

That about sums up our lives right now. We will be heading out to the farm over the weekend, but before we go we have a baby shower to attend. Busy, busy!

Next week is Holly’s last week of pre-school for the year, I can’t believe another year has passed. I can’t remember if I mentioned it here or not, but she did not get into the public school pre-k program (it’s popular so attendance is via lottery) so she will be attending preschool at Country Day one more year. She will love it I know, she really wasn’t looking forward to sitting down inside everyday! When I told her they didn’t have animals at our neighborhood school she could not understand why!

Holly is having her tonsils out next week–I can’t remember if I mentioned that here yet either. (I know it was on my PL layout last week, but those darn images are so small it’s hard to read them!) That will be on Friday, and I am getting nervous already. And I am not even the one getting them removed!!!

Week in Review

I don’t know if this is technically going to be a review of the week, more like an apology for being so absent lately! Ever since we came back from California the babe has had really bad teething episodes and has consequently not been sleeping hardly at all during the day. The less she sleeps, the less free time I have! (My absence may also have something to do with the 13 loads of laundry I did all week long too….)

Gearing up for a busy weekend. We have a birthday party in the morning to attend, and then the whole family is heading north for a wedding. Which reminds me…I have to get my camera charged up!

Really nothing else to report this week. Lots of housework, and a bit of scrapbooking. I really do have other hobbies (like quilting) but unfortunately they are taking a back seat to everything else as of late. I have some fabric for a quilt for the girl’s room that I am dying to show off…maybe next week.

I finished up an “ode to the instagram” page tonight which highlights some of my favorite iphone photos from the trip to Disney. I used a template from Nettio Designs–love, love, love her stuff. This came together in less than 30 minutes.

I absolutely love how this came out–you can tell just by looking at all of these little shots in a big circle that we had fun, fun, fun! I hope to get a few more pages done about Disney before I forget exactly what we did when! (Don’t get me started on my Week in The Life stuff–I am stalled out on day two, I REALLY need to get that stuff down or it will be long gone out of this brain by June!!)

Have a great weekend!
