Friday Fun, Session One — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

Almost two weeks ago I asked for some volunteers to help me out with some snow shots here in Saint Paul.  My response was phenomenal–and it all started with this adorable mother and son.  LOVE these images!  When I look at them I can still hear the laughter.  In my opinion that is what a good photograph should do…take you back right to that moment in time.  Wouldn’t you all agree?

Janet moon - These are awesome! So sharp and you captured great moments. I know how challenging it can be to do a session in the snow and you nailed it!

Caroline - Heather, I LOVE seeing your new website and amazing photos! And of course it’s a treat seeing Sarah and her little man. Just wish Virginia weren’t so far away so we could benefit from your talent!

A Winter Afternoon at Home– Minneapolis Children’s Photographer

I spent an afternoon with sweet little Patrick a few weeks ago, and captured these moments to share.  He has the most adorable expressions, I seriously think there are at least 15 different looks in these photos!  During the session I would show him the back of my camera so he could “see the baby,” which cause him to make a pucker sound (I swear he was trying to say his name) that made me giggle every time.  I love how we captured him in his room playing with whatever suited him, love how I snuck in a few shots of Mom and him reading, and my hand goes on my heart every time I see the family shot on the sofa.  We REALLY wanted to get some shots outside, but the snow was so deep (and it was so cold) that we pretty much gave up on that idea after five minutes.  Luckily I was able to get a few shots of him before we went inside.  Those blue eyes are show-stoppers don’t you agree?

This is a session that gives you a peek into day-to-day life, and I am feel so very lucky to be able to capture moments of it.

JoyfulHeart - Great job, especially pic #16 with his winter hat on and his blue eyes just popped. Great job!!!!

Come Join Me Friday! — Minneapolis/St Paul Family Photographer

Believe it or not we are in for a heatwave Friday, at least by Minnesota standards that is.  It’s the perfect opportunity for me to get out and practice shooting (this long and cold winter is driving me stir crazy) and I wanted to invite anyone that is free and interested to join me.  I have a few concepts in mind and would love some willing subjects to photograph!  If you feel like playing in the snow, leave me a comment here on the blog and I will send you all of the details.  I plan on shooting from 1230-4pm, and this “event” is free of charge.  As a thank-you, those participating will receive a special gift.

Please pass this great opportunity onto your friends!

shannon - I could have our nanny bring DAZ for some shots – shoot me a FB msg!

Holly Diestler - wish I was in your area Heather- I’d love to participate :) Have fun!!! Love the pics with this post– awesome!!

JoyfulHeart - Great idea, Heather! Wish I could be there to join the fun!

Lisa - That would be so much fun – unfortunately Audrey is in school until 3:45. :-( If you want pictures of me instead of my adorable girl I could probably show up for a little while. I have a meeting at 11am so I will actually already be all dolled up :-)

Happy Birthday Patrick! — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

One of the best things about being a children’s photographer is watching your client’s children grow.  Little Patrick here was my very first subject when I started this amazing adventure, and now he is celebrating his first birthday!  Patrick and I had a lot of fun in his room yesterday playing with toys, reading, and hanging out.  Great way to spend an afternoon…and now that I think about it perhaps THAT is my favorite thing about all of this.  I get a chance to be a kid again too!  Thanks for being such a great subject little man, you are going to be a heartbreaker for sure!

December Daily — Day 25

Done!  Now comes the tedious task of double-checking my work before uploading to Shutterfly…

Feels so good to be done, and to have completed the book despite a very hectic December.  Thanks again for following along, and for your wonderful comments. It will be back to regularly scheduled programming come next week, my daughter will be back in school and I have two holiday sessions to share. But for now? Bring on more vacation!  (And bring on some more pie!)  Only a few days left before all of those resolutions are supposed to kick in you know…
