Holiday Mini-Sessions 2010

I know, I know–it’s annoying enough to have to walk past Halloween candy in the grocery store in August (which I literally had to do last week) without me starting to talk about the holidays.  But it truly is time to start thinking about a photo session to compliment your cards!  Check out the slideshow below for some of the different options this year….

My clients love to take advantage of warm fall colors for their yearly family pictures–so the mini-session planning and card selection process is in full swing, and I am happy to update you with the latest news!

Exact locations are going to be determined this week, but the rest of the details can be found on my website in the holiday 2010 tab on the home page.  Mini-Sessions will be held Oct 8-9 and Oct 15-16 from 9am-6pm and are already getting a lot of attention so book soon!

To schedule a session, please email me for availability.  A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your time-slot, I hope to see you!

Amy — Minneapolis/St Paul Lifestyle Photography

Hello, hello!  I am finally up and running again, has the month of August really flown by already?  For those of you who don’t know it already, my laptop was stolen the night of my last blog entry….and it took all of this time to buy new equipment, build my computer/phone/network all over again, and reorganize all of my files.  I was quite embarrassed by the fact I hadn’t backed up my computer in a month (consequently losing five sessions worth of photos), and have learned my lesson.  I back up EVERYDAY now!  A big thank you to my wonderful husband (aka tech support) for bearing the brunt of all of this rebuilding.  I don’t know how I would have made it without him!

I am in love with headshots lately….particularly shots of women.  It is so wonderful to watch each woman come out of her shell as I shoot.  At the beginning of the session they are all self-conscious (I can tell they have been behind the lens for years) but by the end of our time together they are smiling, laughing, and brainstorming with me on composition.

Look for posts this week on my website launch, my Holiday Card collection, and how to schedule your Holiday Portrait Session.  It’s getting to be that time of year believe it or not!  I am planning on shooting the first three weekends in October–just finalizing the time-slots and setting up online scheduling.

My daughter and I are off to Upstate New York on Tuesday, so look for some family photo sessions and new outdoor photography as well this week. There are waterfalls galore in my hometown, not to mention beautiful rolling hills and valleys, and I can’t wait to capture it all!

Hayden — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

Spent a wonderful summer night along the Mississippi River with three of the cutest and most energetic kids around!  This image caught my eye immediately–what a beauty!  Hayden was not only the best helper when it came to rounding up the boys, but she was also the most perfect little model.  Shooting images of girls like this is a treat!  Thanks for a great summer memory….

Devon — Minneapolis/St Paul Senior Photographer

Spent this evening cruising the streets of downtown Saint Paul with Devon in search of the perfect brick wall and the perfect alley for his photos and luckily we found them all.  (Thanks in no small part to the serendipitous meeting of a friend of his on the street!) Devon was a ton of energy and so full of ideas the evening flew by and we ended up with some awesome images including the one above.   I don’t remember anyone looking like this when I was a senior in high school, but then again the late eighties and early nineties were not that kind to anyone…

It was so refreshing to work in collaboration with another creative soul…particularly a Photoshop guru. In just a couple of hours I swear I learned so many new things it made my head spin.  Another unexpected, but very welcome, bonus….this photography venture just keeps getting better and better!

Brothers and Sisters — Minneapolis/St Paul Children’s Photographer

It’s after nights like these, when I hang out with a family of six, that I wish my own little family was bigger.  Being surrounded by the energy of this family, watching the interactions between the brothers and sisters,  it’s one of the many unexpected gifts of this career.  I thank them for letting me be a part of their memories.

I can never decided if I like b/w better than color, so I posted them both here.  What’s your vote?  Leave a comment below!

Jenny - I love them both but I think by the way you described them the color would go better with them. It is so vibrant and lovely.

Lisa - Love the color – it showcases the vibrant smiles and energy coming from the kids.

Tina - Black and white is so timeless! But, the color is so vivid in this shot! Nice work, Heather! They will cherish these memories you have captured for years to come!

Stephanie - You can’t decide because they are BOTH amazing. So why decide at all?!

Dottie Cadenhead - Hi,
Just saw the picture of Drew, Hans, Annika and Emma. They’re my grand nephews and nieces. Their grandma is my sister. Grandma and Grandad are special people, too. That’s why Mom and Dad, Wendy and Willem, have raised a great bunch of kids. We give credit to their knowing God, the creator of all things. They’re very active in church life, too. Their love for each other just didn’t happen without God’s grace on their lives. Great picture of great children!
