A few days late, but better late than never:)
If you have read my blog for any length of time, or have been part of the December Daily community over the years (remember the Flicker group anyone?!) you know that I am now embarking on my SEVENTH holiday album. Each year I get more excited then the next and consequently hoard more than my share of items throughout the year.
I wish I could be all streamlined like Ali and limit my choices and do foundation pages ahead of time, but for some reason (even when I was 100% digital) I like to create as I go.
This year I am using a 6×8 album with page protectors again. I absolutely love the opportunity to be crafty throughout the month! Here is a look at day one. I always start out strong, with multiple pages and photos, and this year was no exception. The opening spread features a large 6×8 image of Gracie our elf. I had about ten different versions of the 3×8 page protector on the right and ultimately settled on vellum from Pretty Little Studio. Like last year I had to trim out the 3×8 in gold scalloped glitter tape:
When the insert is flipped there is a 3×8 image of the table itself. I scored big at the dollar store last month and had the best time putting together this table! My favorite purchase? The $1 santa hat chair covers! The right side is a trimmed down transparency from Ali’s main kit this year:
This view shows you the back of the insert on the left and a 4×4 insert card on the right. The 4×4 journaling card is not in a page protector and comes from the 4×4 pad included with Studio Calico’s 25 days class. (I not only hoarded supplies this year but classes as well. I not only did this class but Ali’s December Daily Storytelling class as well.) The little gold glitter heart is from a sticker sheet sent to me from a December Daily friend. (I had stamps and she had supplies so we did a trade of goodies to one another through the mail. It was so fun and I would totally be up for doing that again–I have WAY more supplies than I need and a ton I am not going to use!) I chose to handwrite this card, but ugh. I don’t know. I don’t like my handwriting in here but I might be too lazy to change it. Thoughts?
Here is the last view of day one. I wanted to include a black and white photo of Holly as well as Marie since the journaling was about their smiles, so I adhered Holly’s photo to the back of the 4×4 piece of card stock. The little gold flag sticker on her photo is another Pretty Little Studio find, as well as the red and white polka-dotted vellum that holds the “1”. The gold number sticker is from my stash, the “BE JOYFUL” flag is from Ali’s main kit, and the 3×4 card with the photo is actually a re-designed template from Paislee Press. I simply took out the day of the week and used the holiday sentiment brush “Love This Memory” in Photoshop.
That wraps up day one. How about those Santa Face pancakes right? I myself am still smiling about how well those turned out!
