Welcome to Week Thirty-Seven! Each week I share my most recent Project Life spread, it’s truly become one of my favorite things about this website. Almost all caught up. (With the weekly spreads that is. We won’t talk about my insert problem!)
If you have stopped by my blog before, welcome back! If you are new you can learn more about how to get started with digital project life by checking out some of my past posts. My most popular digital memory-keeping posts have been Project Life Tips (written after my first six months of scrapbooking) and Digital Project Life Tips which is filled with links to some great tutorials online that are free AND will have you up and going in no time digitally. All of my digital project life pages are here on my blog, or for an even easier way to view them follow me on Pinterest. One thing you will notice that is different about my layouts is that I use a double-mat effect for all of my pages. If you are interested in learning how to resize your Becky Higgins templates to create this look, and would like a free download of my template, check out this post. Now onto week 37!
What we were up to this week: It was the first day of school for my kindergartener, so lots of preparation and photos of that. The weekend brought time with friends and a visit to a local “county fair.”
Techniques used this week: I did a lot of flip-flopping. If you have these new themed school cards you will notice that some of my designs have been altered a bit…that’s the awesome thing about doing Project Life digitally! Not only can you recolor when you want to, but you can also alter the design if it’s not oriented in a direction you want. Both the journaling card with the little blue circle/star and the BEST DAY EVER card were rotated 180 degrees or horizontally flipped to fit better in my layout. (I do this by going into the image menu in CS5 and clicking on rotate image, or flip horizontally.)
DSLR Photos Vs Iphone Photos: 2:9 DSLR was only brought out this week for the “official” photoshoot out front on her first day. LOVE love love my iPhone camera.
Favorite Photo of the Week: The black and white of Holly on the steps hands down.
Other thoughts: It was fun to play around with one of the new themed card kits. Because the kits do not come with paper and are all journaling cards, I knew that looking through a neutral core kit would probably work best. (I also knew that it would be easy to make the pages look cohesive if I kept all of the journaling, title, and filler cards from the same themed kit–that way the colors used and overall style of them would be the same.) I immediately opened up the midnight kit and wa-la! LOVE how the bright green and red pop with the gray and black. I am such a sucker for a black background!!
For fun I did the right side of this layout in a few other core kit combinations, just so you could all see how awesome the Project Life products work together. Here is the page using two papers from the Kraft edition:
The Seafoam edition. (The inner mat is simply recolored to match the dark color used in the outer mat paper):
The Jade edition:
I honestly could have easily come up with a half dozen more but it’s nearing midnight so I have to get to bed. Kiddos will have me up in no time!
I am sharing my layouts on The Mom Creative again this week, be sure to hop on over there and check out the inspiration!
